Creative Resources for Community Knowledge Co-Creation (2023- Ongoing)
For almost 20 years UVic Geography’s Community-based Research Laboratory-CBRL has been involved in numerous research projects with many local and international communities, co-generating new knowledge regarding discard and waste studies and climate change action research. Through a different knowledge dissemination platform, specifically a Story Map integrating interactive features such as animations, infographics, recordings, and videos at the CBRL website, the proposed project will further translate and mobilize knowledge outcomes from this work, specifically surrounding recycling networks, waste governance, zero waste, and climate change awareness across communities. Not only will CBRL’s work be more visible but it will be easier to share and navigate for stakeholders and the general public, while contributing to the Lab’s social inclusion in waste governance work. In addition, a display/exhibit of CBRL’s work will be created and hosted at UVic Libraries, allowing thousands of students, faculty and general public to learn about CBR and related pressing issues, such as plastic waste, climate change, indigenous knowledge and diverse SDGs. These knowledge mobilization products (online Story Map and physical exhibit) will stimulate critical reflections on current questions, not only by problematizing but also by highlighting possible ways to address these issues, in an accessible language.
